The Chiropractic Association of Alberta’s mandate is a duty to diagnose and a commitment to care. The Association focuses on promoting and advocating to patients, government, healthcare professionals and insurers on the imperative healthcare role of chiropractors.

The College of Chiropractors of Alberta’s mandate is to protect the public through registration, competency and professional conduct oversight of Alberta chiropractors to ensure safe, competent and ethical care is provided to Albertans. While governed by legislation, the CCOA cannot advocate for legislative changes.

It is not a requirement of your practice permit issued by the College of Chiropractors of Alberta (CCOA) to belong to the Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA). However, membership in the CAA is required to access other professional benefits provincially and nationally.

The Chiropractic Association of Alberta enables access to world-class care for spinal, muscle, nerve and joint conditions while expanding scope and utilization and optimizing practice life for members and adding value for patients. It also keeps you connected to a dedicated network of over 1200 chiropractors in Alberta

To be a member of the Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association (CCPA), you must be a member of both the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA) and the Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA). The CCPA is the only liability protection that focuses exclusively on chiropractors.

To belong to the national Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA), you are also required to belong to the provincial association, the Chiropractic Association of Alberta. The CCA is the profession’s representative with third-party insurance providers and advocates for pan-Canadian health privileges, such as chiropractors having the authority to authorize handicap parking placards for patients with disabilities.

Membership with the College of Chiropractors of Alberta is mandatory for practicing chiropractors in Alberta. The Health Professions Act requires that all regulated members renew their practice permit annually.  Please visit Home (theccoa.ca) for more information.

No. Despite the joint organization of the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors (ACAC) separating into two single entities on December 1, 2021, the fees for belonging to both the new Chiropractic Association of Alberta (CAA) and the College of Chiropractors of Alberta (CCOA) are less than the ACAC fee last year.

Please renew your membership by June 30,2022.

Membership includes:

• Eligibility for Canadian Chiropractic Protective Association Insurance and Canadian Chiropractic Association Membership.
